Seven Tips for a Better Night’s Sleep

Image result for sleep
How you end the day makes all the difference. Your evening routine can either set you up for a cheerful and fulfilling day or one full of frustration and exhaustion. Here are seven steps you can take to create a successful bedtime routine that will give you more restful nights and more productive days.

Set an alarm for bedtime.
Try setting an alarm for one hour before you’d like to be settled in bed to remind you that it’s time to step out of your day and start winding down.

Drink up!
Since you end up going 6–8 hours without any liquid at all, drinking water throughout the day and before you hit the sack is essential to keeping yourself hydrated. Try adding Lavender Vitality™ essential oil to your water or herbal tea for a calming influence. Aim for an hour before bed, so you aren’t waking up in the middle of the night for a bathroom trip.

Give yourself a little face time.
Make sure to give your skin and teeth the TLC they need. Refresh and renew your face with a mild wash such as our ART® Gentle Cleanser. You should also use gentle products on your teeth that are free of synthetic dyes and fluoride such as our Thieves® AromaBright™ Toothpaste and Thieves Fresh Essence Mouthwash. Taking time to establish and follow this important hygiene ritual will help you feel fresh and relaxed before bed and can signal to your brain that it’s time to calm down.

Take notes for tomorrow.
Write down a brief game plan for a productive tomorrow. While creating your list, remember to envision the kind of day you’d like to have, how you’d like to feel, and the top priorities you’ve got in your sights. Get it down on paper and you won’t spend hours trying to fall asleep thinking about what your day might look like.

Set yourself up for success.
The night before, prepare your outfit, your breakfast and lunch, or complete other tasks you’d usually take care of in the morning. The fewer tasks looming over you, the quicker and happier you will be getting out of bed in the morning.

Ditch the tech and read a book.
The light from electronic screens can trick your mind and body into thinking it’s still light out. Try leaving technology out of your bedroom to help you shift into to a calm, relaxed, and clear state.

Stress Away

Add essential oils to your routine.
Try diffusing Lavender, Stress Away™, or your favorite blend of essential oils with comforting aromas as you prepare for bed. Rubbing a couple drops between your palms and brushing them over your pillow can also boost the relaxing aromas and can make jumping into a cloud of pillows and blankets feel extra luxurious.

My favorite bedtime blend is Peace and Calm and Lavender. I was taking sleeping pills at night and hated to wake up groggy. This blend helps me relax quicker, fall asleep faster, and get a full night of deep sleep... I have recommended lavender to TONS of people and every one of them reported they sleep much better with it.. I apply the blend topically on my wrist and back of my ears. Affordable easy to make and effect. It's also nice to diffuse every now and then for a little extra relaxing boost !!

YL tip: Did you know that Valerian essential oil helps promote feelings of calm, serenity, relaxation, and that it can ease occasional restlessness? Add Valerian to your bedtime routine by diffusing a few drops 30 minutes before you go to sleep.

Once you’ve worked out a routine that helps you sleep well on a regular basis, create a ritual of those steps so your body and mind is prepared for a good sleep and a successful day ahead.

Identify the Hidden Toxins in YOUR Home

DID YOU KNOW?

The average American home contains more than 1,000 different chemicals. (EPA)

Of the chemicals found in personal care products: 884 are toxic, 146 cause tumors, 218 cause reproductive complications, 778 cause acute toxicity, 314 cause biological mutations, 376 cause skin and eye irritations.

Asthma was once a very rare disease. Now the condition is extremely common, the asthma rate has tripled in the last 20 years with nearly 30 million Americans currently afflicted. In one decade, there has been a 42% increase in asthma (29% for men, 82% for women). The higher rate for women is believed to be due to women’s longer exposure times to household chemicals.

The think Dirty app is one of my FAVES -- It's disgusting when I find out my favorite bath wash is high is cancer causing agents or my favorite cleaner is high in toxins that cause reproductive issues. But it also helps me take control and kick those products to the curb!!!

There are more than 3 million poisonings every year.

Household cleaners are the number one cause of poisoning of children. Liquid dish soap is the leading cause of poisonings in the home for children under the age of six (over 2.1 million accidental poisonings per year). Most brands of liquid dish soap contain Formaldehyde and ammonia.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reported that nearly 30 cancer-causing chemicals were detectable in the fat tissues of literally every American today.

Just reducing (not eliminating) environmental carcinogens alone would save at least 50,000 lives from cancer annually. (Dr. Lee Davis, former advisor to the Secretary of Health)

2. Over 150 chemicals commonly found in homes have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer, and psychological abnormalities. (Consumer Product Safety Commission)

3. Toxic chemicals in household cleaners are three times more likely to cause cancer than air pollution. (EPA)

want to be a DIY'er ?? I have an amazing recipe for laundry Soap.

I LOVE my dryer balls. I use Purification.

4. Most homes have airborne concentrations of hazardous chemicals that are three to 70 times higher indoors than outdoors. (EPA)

5. Women who work at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than women who work outside of the home. The higher death rate is believed to be due to daily exposure to chemicals found in ordinary household products. (Toronto Indoor Air Commission)
6. In the past 14 years, there has been a 75% increase in asthma; 29% for men; 71% for women. The higher rate for women is believed to be due to women’s longer exposure times to household chemicals. (Center for Disease Control)

7. The personal care products we put on our skin and hair create possible toxic exposures through skin absorption. These include soaps, lotions, cosmetics, shampoos, deodorants and other common products. (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) 90% of health problems caused by chemicals are through the inhalation of chemical vapors and absorption of chemical particles. However, many warning labels refer only to toxic hazards caused by ingestion of a chemical.

9. It's sad to think about but we can't even trust our foods anymore! The chemicals for killing weeds is harmful, plus pesticide those are full of toxins.

Savvy minerals makeup

Sephora / Make-up junkies-listen up👂

Let me save you money! 💰 Seriously! 💵

Okay, so we all like savings 💰 right? Sometimes we talk ourselves out of spending money on things because we THINK we are spending a lot. Whether you are a coupon clipper or a price matcher or not, let’s compare and contrast the cost of Young Living’s makeup with a few other leading companies 💋 (not meant to bash other companies, just comparing prices)

Here are some interesting finds for the basic things we all buy when we think of makeup:

Young Living Savvy Minerals (Wholesale Price):
💧 Eyeliner-15.75
💧Foundation-44.00
💧Eye shadow (one color)-15.25
💧Lip Gloss-27.50
💧Lipstick-22.75
💧Blush-27.75
Total=$153
(w/out Lipstick-$130.25; w/out Lip Gloss-$125.50)

BeautyCounter Makeup (non-consultant price):
💄Eyeliner-$23
💄Foundation-$41
💄Eyeshadow-$34
💄Lip Gloss-$29
💄Lipstick-$30
💄Blush-$40
Total=$197
(w/out Lipstick-$167; w/out Lip Gloss-$168)

Bare Minerals Makeup (Retail-only option):
🐻 Eyeliner-$17
🐻Foundation-$28.50
🐻Eyeshadow (Palette)-$45
🐻Lip Gloss-$18
🐻Lipstick-$20
🐻Blush-$24
Total=$152.50
(w/out Lipstick-$132.50; w/out Lip Gloss-$134.50)

So, as you can see:
1. Young Living’s makeup is NOT expensive!
2. Hello, let’s talk INGREDIENTS??? I mean, maybe you get a tad more (like multiple eye-shadows or a duo blush pack) but is it really worth it? I encourage you to really dig deep into the ingredients. I am happy to get quality over quantity.

AND BEST POINT OF ALL: I get MEGA POINTS BACK when I order and can get even more FREE products!!! And who doesn’t love that?!?! With my Young Living order I can add these to my Monthly Essential Rewards order, get up to 25% back (if you’re just starting ER, you will get 10% and work your way up to 25%) which is $38.25 back on an order of $153!!!!! Whoa 😱 So, who does that? Does Target? Ulta? Amazon? Nope! But Young Living does 🙌🏻

Just something to chew on 🤗 Feel free to share this 😘 End of math lesson 👨‍🏫. www.essentialoilswithlucie.com
