Add some fun to lunch

I love surprising my kids with different things so I thought shaped sandwiches would be a cute idea. I was super excited when I was able to review these and couldn't help myself so I made sandwiches the day I got them. I have 6 children so I was very happy to use all 5 designs.

They are all very easy to use and cut through the sandwich with no problems. Majority of them fit perfectly on normal bread but the heart was slightly bigger so it didn't come out perfectly. Rest assured NONE of that matter to my children. They were all outside while I made the sandwiches so when they got in the all started ohhing and ahhing at the shapes and comparing/identifying their shapes.

They loved the shapes but they also loved that there sandwiches were crust free and it was OK not to eat the crust. My son exclaimed that his sandwich was so easy to eat. Even the baby (she is 1) had no trouble eating the heart and dolphin.

I honestly have no idea who liked these more, me or the children. They were very little work for a lot of fun. These also made sandwiches disappear a lot faster than I've seen in a long time.

Children's Kid's Pretend Play Toy Tea Set

When I saw this tea set I thought it was so adorable. I'll be honest my girls have at least 4 tea sets already but they play with them. They REALLY play with them all the time and they enjoy playing with them. So I don't think it's bad for them to have a ton of variety. Plus most of the time they incorporate them all together.

I really thought I was getting a pink flower and gingham pattern so at first I was pretty disappointed with this pattern ~~ Had I read the disclosure that patterns may vary it would not have been a surprise. But the more I looked at it, the more I thought it was adorable. It's prefect pattern for boys or girls and it's bright and colorful.

It's a metal set so I don't have to worry about plastic breaking into pieces when they get stepped on. I KNOW it will happen eventually. The metal is pretty toughly constructed so I don't even know if it will bend a lot. I did not put it through the test nor did my girls, yet. 

It's an adorable, complete set with tea matching (fruity) cups and saucers, serving tray, tea kettle, and snack plates. So my girls have everything they need to host  a "proper" tea party.  

My girls loved it and they really liked the pattern. Which is really nicely painted with lots of details. They will get tons of use from this tea set. Now if I could just stop them from fighting over which plates decoration they want!!

Start Write 6.0 Software review and giveaway

I try to teach my children as much as I can. I like them to be ahead of their class is they can. My youngest are the two going to kindergarten next school year and one going into Pre-K. In Pre-K they learn how to write their names and letters the teachers always say practice at home. But how many times do they send the paper work already written on. So I make them practice on a regular notebook sheet of paper. That helps nothing because the lines are too small for a young child to write in and if I tell them to write on two lines before I know it they are writing too big. So this causes frustration for me and them. I always wonder if it is actually helping them.

When I was chosen to review Start Write 6.0 software I was super excited. This software allows you to create your own worksheets. So with little effort or time I can let my youngest practice her name and my kindergartners practice numbers. The possibilities don't end their I can also use the cursive font to help my oldest practice his handwriting. I can make the worksheets with any information I want. The is a library with lots of cute pictures to choose from that can easily be inserted into where ever you choose into the worksheet. If you want to use one of your own pictures that can easily be inserted as well.

The program is very user friendly and self explanatory. It is very easy to adjust the width of margins and columns by simply pulling them where you want them.  If you are teaching a child new letters you can even add stroke marks showing the proper way to make the letters. With so many options I am in complete control.  Since children learn at different paces you I can create worksheets customized for each one.

This program will come in handy to keep my children refreshed all summer. They can practice what I feel they need to practice the most. The program also has a Spanish setting so they can practice both languages or just one. StartWrite6 is compatible with Windows 98, 2000, XP, and higher.

Wigglo Pets review - GIVEAWAY

As I'm sure a lot of you know by now I'm an animal rehabber with an absurd amount of animals. I can never understand why but my children still ask for PET???!!!?? Really what do you call the 11 cats and 2 dogs? Not to mention the squirrels and raccoons that are here then released. But still they want a pet of their own. This is my answer to them, here is your Wigglo Pet. Founder Maya Grace explains why "Wigglos are pets that create no mess, need no walks, and that you never have to take to the vet. The Wigglo Pet I got was really cute it was black with a white nose with red eyes that moved, my 4 year old daughter loved that they moved. She said they looked like real eyes. The Wigglo was only halfway out of the bag when my children ran up to me and "begged" to play with their new toy.

I showed them how to "pet" it and they fell in love. One of them carried it all over while the others tried to make it move. I would never have guessed but they were entertained for hours. The only sound I heard was the occasional fight over who's turn it was told hold the pet and lots of laughter.

Wigglo Pets are a very unique concept because  they respond to you when you pet them with no batteries to change and they make no noise. So they are a treat to parents as well.. You can feel it butt up against your hand like a cat or dog would when you pet them. My children who are 3, 4, and 5 got the biggest kick out of this toy.  My four year old twins are a boy and a girl so Wigglo is good for both genders.  They also are very light weight and small so they can take them everywhere.

There are different sizes and colors to choose from. Christmas is right around the corner and the price makes Wigglo Pets perfect stocking stuffers.

When I told my children I had another book to share with them they hurried and gather around the computer to excited to read it. From the minute I opened the book my children were glued. They genuinely laughed at almost every page and I will admit I chuckled a few times myself.

With it's colorful pages and humorous story as with all of Julia Dweck's creations, this book manages to have a lesson intermingled as well. Believe in your yourself and you can be anything you want to be. I know as a I tell my children that constantly but Faux Paw has a lesson for parents as well.  Sometimes it may take more than words to help your child believe they can be anything they want to be.

My children loved the fun facts and matching game at the end.  I was not surprised my children enjoyed this book, Julia Dweck is a hit in my house. Two days later and my daughter is begging me to read this book again. She said she LOVED this story because his teacher said he couldn't be a bear but his mom said you can be anything you want to be.

Humpfree the Humpless Camel

Julia Dweck has done it again her newest release, Humpfree the Humpless Camel is just as entertaining as the two other books I have reviewed for you.  Just as the others well written, easy to read,  and keeps my children's attention.   Every page that has a new "solution" Humpfree tries has a colorful illustration by Young-Min Yoon that goes along with it.

My children and I couldn't wait to turn the page to see if Humpfree would get the results he desired. Just when I started to feel sorry for Humpfree, the end came with a valuable life lesson for Humpfree and the kids. There is a reason you are different and there is nothing wrong with being different.

My children are 3, 4, and 5, so you can imagine getting a review out of this next to impossible. My nine year old can help but he wasn't home when we read this book.  These are a few of the comments I got when I asked, it was "cool' , "I liked it", my youngest son "awesome"  So as a mother, I can read their minds, they loved it. I will no doubt have to read it to them again tomorrow night!

My children laughed at all the tricks Mary tried and they enjoyed the pictures that went along with with them.  But wow, Mary sure is persistent so it teaches children to never give up. 

Once again Julia Dweck has a winner in my eyes with this page turner.  My children will no doubt make me read this again hundreds of times. I won't mind reading it  because it is quick and easy to read. Making it a perfect bedtime story. I see more Julia Dweck books in my children's future, maybe Humpfree the Humpless Camel that is set to be released October 2, 2013.

Some of you may not know this about me but I love to read. When I had the time I would read for hours. I would get lost in a book and not go to sleep until the morning.  I don't really have the time to read myself but I am trying to pass down my love of reading to my children. This is my first time reading a Julia Dweck book but my children have tons of books. I'm always looking for new books tor read at bed time but I like them to be small books that are quick and easy to read. I don't like very wordy books because obviously the more words the longer it takes to read and they lose interest very quickly.. It has 21 pages but there are not a lot of words on each page. The story flows effortlessly from one page to the other and draws you in. 

I found this story attention grabbing, humorous, and extremely entertaining. My four youngest children were glued and didn't say a word during the entire story.  That's a really big deal. I can always tell when they lose interest because one (hopefully not all of them) will start talking or fidgeting. Thankfully that was not the case with this story even as an adult I looked forward to turning the page, to see what antics Blusy had in store.

The illustration  by Erika LeBarrre is adorable and vibrant.  Each page filled with colorful pictures some even made my chuckle. They both do such a great job on the story and illustration a blue cat doesn't seem impossible even to me.
