Have you ever noticed when someone says "Can I get your HONEST opinion?" they really don't want to know what you think at all. What they are fully expecting is for you to agree with them. So when you give your HONEST opinion and it is not what they think all hell breaks loose. They get angry and start arguing with you trying to change your opinion.
All the time you are thinking but wait YOU asked for my opinion! I know it's a human trait to always think our opinion is the right one but this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Don't ask me what I think or if I agree with you unless you are prepared for this earth shattering discovery.... Not everyone shares your opinion!!! That's right not everyone thinks the way you do.
I am not a yes person so if I don't agree with you, I will tell you. I'm sure most people are this way. If everybody liked the same things this world would be very boring.
An honest opinion is just that an opinion and remember what they say about opinions. So the next time someone asks you for your honest opinion remember it may loosely translate to I know my opinion is so fabulous on this subject you will agree with me... you do agree with me, Right?

I always tell people what my opinion is if they ask and let them know they can take it or leave it, whatever is best for them. Thank you for sharing

ReplyDeleteI'm the same way, always am going to give my honest opinion. It's funny, I've been married for 26 years and my hubby knows I will give my opinion, yet he will try to change mine if I don't agree and 9 times out of 10, he will end up agreeing with me hours later. LOL!

DeleteLOL, I'm pretty much the same way! If they want you to comment and your honest opinion, I do! I get worried that some bloggers may get upset with me if I read a recipe and I like it, but I'll suggest that I'd change a few things because I don't like certain things they have put in it! I've already had giveaways that I've entered on a certain website and when I go back to update them, they are all set back to new! I wonder to myself, what did I do or say? Is this person upset with me that they reset my entries? I know I've entered this Giveaway for Yankee Candles and when I went back into it to update, it was set back to 0 entries. Why? I have no idea! Anyway, I always give my honest opinion on things and I know that everyone is not going to agree with me, that's just how the world goes! People are all individuals and have their certain opinions and they are going to express them if you ask them to! Thanks for posting this! I truly do appreciate it! Thanks again, Michele :)
