I live in south Louisiana and cannot speak a word of French, my ancestors however were all very fluent in the language. My grandparents would talk in French around me all the time, no doubt they were probably talking about me. If not surely it was something "little ears" did not need to hear. How the language escaped me is something I cannot explain but I have always wanted to learn.

Went I tried to schedule a foreign language in high school French was full so I never really pursued it after that. When I was chosen to review Pimsleur French Lesson I was so ready. This was my time to learn. I have used Pimsleur before and I know how easy it makes learning another language.
The Pimsleur approach is very easy to understand and instead of listening to someone drilling words in your head, you actively participate in a simulated conversation. You are constantly being asked to repeat the words you are learning. Even once you move on to learn other words, the CD comes back and reminds you of the previous words. That way you don't forget what you have learned. It is amazing how much you comprehend this way. I let my children listen to them with me and and my 5 year old daughter is still saying some words she learned. So this lesson is something the entire family can benefit from.
I am enjoying the lessons and have learned a fair amount of French in just one CD. There are 16 disk all together so by the time I finish I'm confident I will be able to communicate effectively in French. I'm undecided if I will tell anybody that speaks French. I may just let them continue to talk around me and see what they are saying!
The best part is it only takes around 30 minutes a day because it is only recommended that you do one lesson per day. You don't want to overload your brain!
