Zevia Sodas review and giveaway

At my house we don't drink sodas all day but I do drink them with most of my meals. When I read the calories and sugars on the back of the can I think, wow I should stop drinking this.  I know why they say replace cola with a calorie/sugar drink you can lose weight. I  tested that theory along with a few years ago along with other diet changes and lost 20 lbs so I know it works. Yet I went back to drinking soda with my meals because I like soda and they are addictive.

When I got to try Zevia all natural Soda, a zero calorie soda with no artificial sweetener I was very excited. I would love to have my soda and not have the calories, carbs, sugars, or the dangers of  artificial sweeteners that would be great.  I consume a lot of sugar without even knowing, how much sugar you are drinking?  A glass of orange juice has 48g, 12 oz soda has 39g, a carton of chocolate has 27 g, Zevia 0 g.  A Snickers bar has less grams of sugar than a glass of orange juice. That is unbelievable to me,  I would much rather have a tasty snack than drink all those sugars and calories.

Zevia sodas are sweetened with the Stevia leaf which is 300 times sweeter than sugar, but has 0 calories and does not effect blood sugar.  The natural sweetener has been used in Japan a long time but it is now catching on in the US. They offer 15 flavors in 12 oz cans, some of the most popular ones are offered in a glass bottle as well.

Unfortunately I didn't love any of the six flavors I was sent to test:  Cherry Cola, Cream Soda, Ginger Ale, Ginger Root Beer, Grape, and Grapefruit Citrus. Did I mention I'm ridiculously picky? Soda is not the only thing I"m picky with but I only drink soda flavor, luckily my husband and children are not picky so they tried them for me.

My husband couldn't wait to try the Ginger Root Beer because root beer is one of his favorite flavors.  He drank most of the can but from the very first sip he said it tasted just like root beer but had an after taste. I tried the Ginger Root Beer and to me it tasted just like drinking any other root beer soda with a slight after taste. My children, who don't drink a lot of soda chose the Cherry Cola flavor and all five of them loved it and started plotting which of the others they would try.

The next night my husband tired Cream Soda and it was the same outcome he said it tastes great but has an after taste. I don't like cream soda at all so I didn't take a sip of this one. The kids tried the Grape and again they loved it so much they asked for seconds. I tried the grape and I agree with the kids it tasted just fine to me but has the slight after taste.  The last two Ginger Ale and Grapefruit Citrus were the same they had a good flavor just the pesky after taste.

I have tried my fair share of artificial sweeteners Sweet N Low, Equal, and Nectresse' so I know an after taste is not unusual. Since my family uses mostly sugar and only drink regular soda we are not accustomed to any after taste but I in my opinion the after taste was no worse than Coke Zero or Diet Coke. So if you are a diet soda drinker these are something you may like.

A 24 pack of 12 oz cans cost $30.00 that is a little much to me, I don't know why the cost is so much higher than other sodas but I'm sure there is an explanation. Would I pay $30.00 a 24 pack? Probably not even if I LOVED them I don't know if I could do it.   If you want to trying Zevia here is a coupon. I love coupons Who doesn't like saving money?
