Ever since I saw the Magnetic Screen Door commercial I was extremely curious about it so when I was chosen to review one from IGotTech for y'all I was so happy. We are an outdoor family but with 7 family members 4 being girls, that means we run in and out a lot. I live in south Louisiana and that means lots of bugs lurking at the door just waiting for that door to open so they can rush in. They seem to hid and then late at night while we are trying to sleep, the mosquito feed on us or I hear the buzzing sound of a fly in my ear. So I thought this would would as a great prevention.
We put it on the back door because we spend most of our time in the back yard. The screen is super easy to install but we did it a little different from the instructions. We put the velcro around the door then hooked the screen to the velcro. The screen is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The entire process took around 5 minutes so it's not time consuming at all. The only tool we used was a pair of scissors. The velcro that is provided is heavy duty hold but you can still adjust the screen if you make a mistake.
The screen itself is a very nice mesh. It's on the thicker side but you can still see through with no problems. The magnetic hold goes all the way to the bottom of the screen and has a strong hold but easy opens when someone is coming through. Even the children can come in and out without incident.
If you would like a good laugh don't tell your children how to use the screen. Watching my children trying to figure it out, I could have sworn it was a force field. The stood at the screen staring for a long time. Not one but four of my children did this. It was not intentional on our part but we did get slightly entertained for a few minutes. Then of course we told them how to use it and it became a toy.
Just a small tip, there is a finesse to getting it to close automatically. When you open the screen sort of toss it aside, the momentum will get the two sides back together and the magnets will grab either
I would like another to put on my front door for when we are coming in and out with groceries at night. This would be a LOT easier than opening the door every trip from the car but still keep out the pest.
If you need any help here is a installation video
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
That is a nice screen door. I need a new one in my kitchen badly.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the commercials for this but didn't think it would be this easy to install. I love the idea of not having to constantly open and close a screen door. This is a wonderful and convenient concept.
ReplyDeleteI need one of these... Not so I can leave my door open, but for when the kids are constantly coming in and out and leave it open ;)
ReplyDeleteI got one of these and am looking forward to the day my husband gets it up. He said this weekend - I am crossing my fingers.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a pretty cool concept. I would like one for the summer. My boys are constantly leaving doors open
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting one of these since we moved to our new house last October but was afraid they wouldn't work right! My husband said it would be junk. I am pinning this to prove to Ideas for the house. Just to show him when he gets home! I have to have one immediately. Thanks for the video that will definitely help also!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I'm going to have to look into this.
ReplyDeleteMine didn't work. We have a bad mosquito problem in our area. Ours kept falling apart but then again my husband didn't read the directions so I'm blaming him. LOL Everyone else who has this loves this too.
ReplyDeleteMy brother has one of these in his townhouse. It was excellent. I would love one, but I have an indoor cat, and she already pushes the screen out of our standard screen door. I can't have her escape.
ReplyDeleteI have almost bought one of these before when we had normal doors and no wild animals outside. With all the bugs it's a genius idea!

ReplyDeleteI was just talking about this with hubs as we saw the advert on TV yesterday,The flies are driving us crazy at the moment and we want to be able to leave out door open for some fresh air.I like that our kids and dogs will be able to get in and out without any problem.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting idea - my kids would definitely like this idea.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool idea! We have bugs that want to get in so screens are always necessary!
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to try this out. My kids go outside and love to leave the door open. Can be a huge pain :(
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about these for our sliding glass doors, I was worried that our dogs would get out. I will have to check them out and see if they would in fact work to keep the animals in and bugs out.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool screen. I want one now off to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI love that screen. That is very nice. Amber N
ReplyDeleteI saw this on TV and thought it was a very neat idea. I don't have any place to put this or I would have gotten one for myself.
ReplyDeleteWe bought one of these last summer, but my dogs were so rough going in and out of it, they tore it up. Too bad, because it was such a great concept!
ReplyDeleteI got this for review as well. My door was too big for it unfortunately & same with all my family members' homes :(
ReplyDeleteNow that is pretty nifty! I could use 2 of them; one for my back door and the other for the front door.
ReplyDeleteAny product that keeps out bugs would be welcomed in my house!
ReplyDeleteDon't tell you children how to use the screen LOL That's funny! I think I would LOVE to have this! I've seen an infomercial for this, too!
ReplyDeleteI saw one of these hanging up at a neighbor's house and wondered about it. I think I may have to get these for our house.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great for when you were carrying in groceries. I want one of those too. :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen this on television and have always been intrigued. I'd love to try it out. Just need to source it in Trinidad.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting one is these for my patio! We have a screened in patio for the pool but some of the screening at the roof has a bit of wear and tear so sometimes bugs find there way in. I'd like to not have to close our sliding glass door when we're going in and out, especially during our big barbecues!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen these before. It's very annoying to get flies in the house.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty neat! I love the idea.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the commerical for this product and wanted to see if it worked or not. It looks like it would be very useful for any home.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. It is a good way to protect a room from unwanted pests.
ReplyDeleteWhere to find a standard sliding screen door...?
